TOUR DESCRIPTION

The village of Barbizon is one of the most charming places in the Paris region. It was here that in the middle of the 19th century a group of painters around François Millet and Théodore Rousseau discovered  landscape and rural life as a valuable theme for painting.

Barbizon to our day is still marked by its history and attracts large numbers of painters and other artists in search of inspiration.

In the morning you will visit Millet’s studio and the Auberge du Père Ganne which accommodated Barbizon’s painters in the old days. Both places have become important museums. Lunch arrangement possible.

In the afternoon your guide will take you to nearby Fontainebleau. The palace was the favorite residence of many French kings throughout the centuries. The visit includes, among other things, the beautiful Renaissance gallery, created by Francis 1st, and Napoleons apartments.
